With more than 100 breweries across the state, New Jersey’s craft beer scene is thriving, offering unique flavors, local ingredients, and vibrant taprooms. Here are some of the state’s standout destinations to enjoy a cold one:
Founded in 1996, High Point Brewing Company is America’s premier brewer of German-style lagers and wheat beers. The founder of Ramstein Beer is Greg Zaccardi, an award-winning brewer who trained and brewed professionally in southern Germany. After immersing himself in German brewing culture and technique, Zaccardi returned to the US to brew Ramstein Beer. In fact, the malt, hops and yeast used to make Ramstein Beer are imported directly from Bavaria.
Nestled on a working farm in Pennington, Needle Creek Farm Brewery operates within a restored barn dating to 1713. The brewery grows its own barley on site and uses a traditional Peter Austin Brick Kettle Brewing System to produce beers like Wandering Plowman Belgium, Post & Beam Ale, and Hops in the Hen House IPA. Surrounded by farm animals, gardens, and rustic surroundings, this brewery offers a farm‑to‑glass taproom and beer‑garden experience.
Troon Brewing is located in Hopewell on the property of Double Brook Farm in one of the original barns on the property, built in the mid-1800’s, and every effort was taken to preserve the historic features of the building. Troon Brewing is also on the same property as the Brick Farm Tavern where you will find a constantly rotating selection of its beers that are meant to be drunk fresh, on tap. The brewery’s barrel fermented ales are available naturally conditioned in bottles.
Cape May Brewing Company opened in 2011, adjacent to Cape May Airport, and has grown into one of New Jersey’s largest craft breweries. Its spacious tasting room and Beer Garden feature an interactive self‑guided tour, “The Brewtique” gift shop, and numerous taps pouring flagship beers like Cape May IPA, Coastal Evacuation Imperial IPA, Longliner Lager, Cape May White, and rotating seasonal offerings.
