Repairing Heart Valves

Hackensack Meridian Jersey Shore University Medical Center is utilizing first-of-their-kind treatment devices to repair patients’ tricuspid heart valves, including the TriClip™ transcatheter edge-to-edge repair system (TEER) and the EVOQUE transcatheter tricuspid valve replacement system (TTVR). The new devices are delivered minimally invasively to the heart via a catheter inserted through the femoral vein in the leg.

Celebrating the Innovate100

More than 500 people gathered this year at the New Brunswick Performing Arts Center to network, share ideas, and recognize the professionals who drive New Jersey’s robust high-tech economy. The second annual Innovate100 celebration, created by Jim Barrood, founder of Innovation+, was designed to honor the trailblazers of today who are ideating, creating and improving so many products and services.

NJII Venture Studio

The New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) and the New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA) have opened the NJII Venture Studio in Newark, making it the 10th Strategic Innovation Center to be created in the state. The studio will accelerate and commercialize high-tech and information technology and will provide startups with training, office space, and guidance on operations and management.

Whole Blood Administration

Virtua Health becomes one of the first health systems in New Jersey to carry and administer whole blood products through its Emergency Medical Services (EMS) division. Specially trained paramedics can now provide whole blood at the scene of a traumatic incident and during transport to the hospital – potentially saving lives.
