Netflix: Supporting Innovation and Creativity in NJ

Netflix is one of the world’s leading entertainment services, with over 300 million paid memberships in over 190 countries enjoying TV series, films and games across a wide variety of genres and languages. Members can play, pause and resume watching as much as they want, anytime, anywhere, and can change their plans at any time.

Building on our commitment to delivering a variety of quality entertainment, in 2022, we announced plans to establish a major presence at Fort Monmouth, New Jersey, investing more than $1 billion to transform the 292-acre former U.S. Army installation into a premier East Coast production hub. The new development will feature 12 state-of-the-art soundstages totaling nearly 500,000 square feet, along with additional spaces dedicated to film production and community amenities.

Over the past three years, we have worked with the boroughs of Eatontown and Oceanport, as well as Monmouth County, to secure approvals for the initial phases of the proposed Netflix Studios Fort Monmouth. Demolition is expected to take around 13 months, and the studio is projected to open in 2028.

In recent years, we have actively participated in various community-focused events. These include organizing two supplier networking events in January and April to connect with local vendors and discuss future opportunities at the studio; engaging with young filmmakers at the Count Basie Breakthrough Filmmaker Festival in nearby Red Bank in 2024; sponsoring the 2025 festival; and hosting a Veterans Day cookout alongside Soldier On and JBJ Soul Kitchen in both 2023 and 2024.

We’re excited to establish a home in New Jersey, the birthplace of the modern film industry. The state boasts top-notch crews, talent, and a vibrant creative sector, which we intend to tap into and further enrich.
