DDNJ is helping to break down barriers to make oral healthcare more inclusive for those with special needs in New Jersey. DDNJ’s group-covered members are eligible for an enhanced benefit for children and adults with qualifying special healthcare needs. 

The enhanced special healthcare needs benefit covers: 

• Additional dental examinations and/or consultations to help patients learn what to expect and what is needed for a successful dental appointment. 
• Up to four total dental cleanings in a benefit year. 
• Treatment delivery modifications (including anesthesia) necessary for dental staff to provide oral healthcare for patients with sensory sensitivities, behavioral challenges, severe anxiety, or other barriers to treatment. 

DDNJ’s belief that everyone deserves a healthy smile drives its business and community endeavors. The DDNJ Foundation, the company’s philanthropic arm, supports access to dental care and education programs across the state for disadvantaged children, adults and children with special needs, seniors, and veterans. In 2024, the DDNJ Foundation donated more than $1.57 million to 40 organizations to support dental care, education, and workforce development programs for more than 24,500 New Jerseyans. Delta Dental’s annual Golf Classic benefiting Special Olympics NJ raised a record-breaking $133,000 in 2024, adding to the $1.83 million total netted since 1990.
