Family-owned ShopRite of Hunterdon County is introducing Caper Carts this month at its Flemington, Clinton and Greenwich stores. The stores are the latest operating under the ShopRite banner to deploy the Instacart-developed shopping carts that allow customers to check out seamlessly.
Caper Carts feature interactive screens that allow shoppers to scan items as they shop, track their spending in real time and check out right from the cart.
Each store will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the launch of Caper Carts on the following days:
“We’re excited to introduce Caper Carts to our ShopRite stores in Flemington, Clinton and Greenwich,” said Sam Colalillo, of ShopRite of Flemington-based Hunterdon County. “As a third-generation grocer, I’ve seen how technology can transform the shopping experience. Our customers now have a smarter, faster way to shop, with tools to track spending, find savings, and check out directly from the cart using a saved payment method. It’s a game-changer for convenience, and we’re proud to bring this innovation to our stores.”
The Colalillos earlier introduced Caper Carts at their ShopRite stores in Yardley and Bethlehem, PA. Powered by AI, Caper Carts scan and weigh items as they’re placed inside the cart.
Customers can also sync their ShopRite Price Plus Club cards to the Caper Cart when checking themselves out.
Based in San Francisco, grocery technology company Instacart partners with more than 1,800 national, regional, and local retail banners to facilitate online shopping, delivery and pickup services from nearly 100,000 stores across North America on the Instacart Marketplace.
