NJIT Launches New Bachelor’s Program Blending Business and AI

New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) is now accepting applicants for a new degree, the Bachelor of Science in Business with Artificial Intelligence (B.S. in Business with AI). It is the first undergraduate degree in New Jersey to blend a comprehensive business curriculum with AI training.

Beginning in spring 2026, the program will prepare students to become the next generation of business leaders adept in leveraging artificial intelligence to drive strategic decision-making across industries. The B.S. in Business with AI addresses a growing demand for professionals who can navigate both the technical and strategic aspects of AI in the business world.

The launch of the program comes as NJIT and the state of New Jersey advance major AI initiatives. NJIT’s 2030 strategic plan prioritizes establishing the university as a leading AI-centered university through focused investments in digital transformation and AI integration.

At the state level, New Jersey is investing in an AI innovation ecosystem — including the NJ Economic Development Authority’s forthcoming NJ AI Hub, a state-of-the-art facility for researchers, startups and industry partners to pioneer AI breakthroughs.

“This first-of-its-kind program exemplifies NJIT’s commitment to interdisciplinary education and innovation,” said NJIT President Teik C. Lim. “By blending business with applied AI, we are aligning with New Jersey’s strategic vision and preparing our students to fuel economic growth in this rapidly evolving field. This is about empowering the next generation of business leaders in New Jersey to harness AI responsibly and propel the state’s economy into the future.”

The B.S. in Business with AI is uniquely designed to give undergraduates a competitive edge at the intersection of business and technology. Key differentiators of the program include:

• Integration of AI in the Business Curriculum – Students will learn to apply artificial intelligence throughout core business disciplines like marketing, finance, operations and entrepreneurship. Specialized courses such as AI-Driven Text Analytics and AI Strategy & Implementation teach students to harness machine learning, natural language processing and data analytics tools to solve real-world business challenges.
• Industry Partnerships and Experiential Learning – NJIT collaborates with New Jersey businesses, startups and state innovation programs to deliver hands-on learning through internships, mentorships and project-based coursework. Initiatives such as the NJEDA’s Innovation Challenges immerse students in solving genuine business problems.
• Access to High-Performance Computing Resources – Students gain access to NJIT’s “Wulver” supercomputing cluster — 25 GPU-accelerated nodes powered by 100 NVIDIA A100 processors. With a peak capacity above 1.5 petaflops, this infrastructure supports data-intensive AI research and provides experience using the same advanced tools found in industry and R&D labs.
• AACSB-Accredited Business Education in an R1 Research Environment – Offered through NJIT’s Martin Tuchman School of Management — accredited by AACSB International (a distinction held by less than 5% of business schools globally) — the program combines a tech-focused business education with the resources of a Carnegie R1 research university. Students learn from faculty engaged in AI-driven research and participate in projects across NJIT’s centers and labs.
• AI Strategy Capstone and Industry Engagement – In their final year, students complete an AI-focused capstone, developing solutions for business clients or startups. Industry leaders and alumni serve as mentors and guest lecturers, while hackathons, case competitions and incubator activities help students build networks and apply AI strategies in real-world settings.

Graduates of this program will be uniquely prepared to lead in an era where AI is integrated into virtually every business function.”

Tukel noted that NJIT’s tech-infused business programs have grown significantly in recent years, and the Business with AI degree represents the next step in aligning education with industry needs. “Employers are looking for people who not only understand data and algorithms, but can also translate AI into business value and do so ethically. This program is designed to meet that need head-on.”
