With more than 50 wineries and vineyards, the Garden State boasts a plethora of award-winning wines bottled within its borders and made from grapes grown and harvested from its soil. Below is a glimpse at what the state has to offer when it comes to wine:
Villa Milagro Vineyards in Phillipsburg offers stunning panoramic views across four counties in two states, earning its name House of Miracles. Founded by Steve and Audrey Gambino in 2003 (and opened in 2007), Villa Milagro Vineyards uses organic and sustainable practices to provide a protective habitat for wildlife, as well as to grow grapes without use of pesticides or herbicides. Its 10 varieties of grapes are blended to express the best of each variety, creating complex and interesting wines.
Beneduce Vineyards, a family‑owned estate in Pittstown since 2009, spans roughly 10 acres of meticulously farmed vines on sustainably managed high‑sloped terrain. Specializing in aromatic, food‑friendly varietals like Riesling, Chardonnay, Blaufränkisch and Cabernet Franc, the vineyard emphasizes small‑lot, handcrafted wines. Visitors can enjoy tastings in their rustic 7,000-square-foot barn space with sweeping views and live music.
A family grain and livestock farm since 1974, Valenzano Winery in Shamong’s Pine Barrens was first planted in 1991, and opened to the public in 1996. Today, it spans about 88 acres and produces up to 80,000 cases annually, including traditional varietals, fruit wines, and the notable Jersey Devil Port and mead. The family‑owned, solar‑powered winery offers daily tastings, a Wine Pub, events, and scenic grounds in Southern New Jersey.
Hawk Haven Vineyard and Winery is located on a sprawling 100+ acre farm in Cape May Wine Country. Nestled between the Delaware Bay and the Atlantic Ocean, the vineyard has become a welcome resting ground for many migrating birds of prey. Opened publicly in 2009, the estate crafts approximately 5,000 cases annually. Its rustic tasting room, live‑music Rootstock series and seasonal events define its charm.
