KPMG Foundation Awards Grant to NJ LEEP to Expand College Access

The KPMG U.S. Foundation has awarded a multi-year $112,500 grant to NJ LEEP, a nonprofit committed to improving college access and career outcomes for students in the greater Newark area.  The grant will support NJ LEEP’s College Bound Programs, which help low-income students starting in middle school get into college and build a meaningful pathway to a career.

With the support from KPMG, NJ LEEP will expand opportunities for nearly 450 students annually across the greater Newark area. Currently, 100% of NJ LEEP students graduate from high school, 99% enroll in college, and 74% earn a degree.

“We’re thrilled to support NJ LEEP through this grant from The KPMG U.S. Foundation,” said KPMG Short Hills Office Managing Partner Jeff Knight. “Their commitment to educational equity and student success resonates deeply with our values in New Jersey. We look forward to seeing the continued impact of their work in shaping future leaders.”

NJ LEEP’s College Bound Programs provide middle and high school students with social emotional and academic skills building, mentoring, career exposure, college test prep, and intensive college application support. For college students, NJ LEEP offers one-on-one coaching and career programming to build a path to upward economic mobility and long-term success.

“NJ LEEP’s mission to support more low-income and first-generation college students is one we’re proud to stand behind,” said KPMG Montvale Office Managing Principal Arun Rajappa. “This grant reflects our shared dedication to expanding opportunity and investing in the next generation across New Jersey.”

“KPMG is a true partner in helping our students chart a path to college and career,” said NJ LEEP Executive Director, Matthew Feinstein. “As we work toward our goal of increasing the number of students we send to college year from 30 to 150 students, their investment will be impactful.”

This grant is part of a nationwide initiative from the KPMG U.S. Foundation, awarding more than $2M this summer in multi-year grants to organizations focused on increasing education and mental well-being, and creating vibrant and healthy communities for all.

This collaboration reflects a shared vision between KPMG and NJ LEEP of creating a world with inclusion and greater opportunities for all. By investing in students’ potential, organizations are working toward a brighter future for all.
