The six-day, four-city economic mission took the delegation to New Delhi, Kochi, Bengaluru, and Mumbai. They met with senior government officials, global CEOs, and startup founders, all focused on strengthening the bonds between New Jersey and India.
“It is an honor to return to India and see firsthand the progress we have made since my historic 2019 visit as the first sitting New Jersey governor to visit India,” said Governor Phil Murphy. “Since that time, we have built a strong foundation of collaboration, and Indian companies have become key contributors to New Jersey’s economic growth. We are committed to deepening this partnership and creating even more opportunities for growth together.”
That commitment translated into results. The mission secured expansion commitments from Indian companies across technology, life sciences, and retail that will create nearly 400jobs in New Jersey. Major announcements came from Biocon, Axtria, and others, adding to the nearly 3,000 jobs Indian investment has already created in New Jersey since 2018. Since opening its India offices in 2019, Choose New Jersey has seen a 1,745% increase in interest from Indian companies looking to expand in the state.
“India remains one of New Jersey’s top foreign direct investors year after year, and this mission underscored how vital that partnership is,” said Wesley Mathews, President and CEO of Choose New Jersey.
Cultural connections were also front and center. Edison Mayor Samip Joshi, a delegate on the mission, noted how stronger ties with India bring economic opportunities and cultural enrichment to communities like his, which is home to Oak Tree Road, the heart of New Jersey’s Indian diaspora.
The delegation also celebrated new higher education agreements to expand research, student exchange, and workforce development, laying the groundwork for deeper collaboration in the years ahead.
