The New Jersey Business & Industry Association’s Board of Trustees members come from diverse industries that represent the melting pot of business in the Garden State. In this monthly series, these Thought Leaders discuss trending issues in their respective fields and how their companies are adapting to continuous change.

We have identified three major trends shaping our work. First, there is a growing recognition that students need more than academic knowledge – they need financial literacy, career readiness, and entrepreneurial skills to succeed in today’s economy.
Families and employers alike understand that young people must graduate prepared to manage money, make informed financial decisions, and navigate career pathways confidently.
Second, technology is transforming how students learn. Interactive simulations and experiential learning environments are far more effective than traditional lectures in teaching real-world skills.
Third, there is increasing alignment between education and workforce development. Employers want a stronger talent pipeline, and communities expect organizations like ours to help bridge the gap between the classroom and the workplace.
Junior Achievement of New Jersey is actively pursuing these trends by doubling down on experiential learning. Our programs immerse students in real-world financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and career-readiness simulations that make abstract concepts tangible, practical, and immediately relevant.
We are expanding partnerships with businesses across New Jersey, bringing professionals directly into classrooms to mentor, coach, and inspire students. This real-world exposure is transformative – helping young people see what is possible and understand the pathways to achieve their goals.
We are also leveraging technology to scale our impact and broaden access, particularly for students in underserved communities. Through blended learning models and digital platforms, we are ensuring that opportunity reaches every corner of our state.
Our mission is simple but urgent: to empower every young person in New Jersey to own their economic success.
