Comcast Launches Multi-Gig Speeds in North Jersey

Comcast announced it has made network updates that reach the majority of homes and businesses in North Jersey, delivering next-generation Internet speeds; download speeds up to 2.1 gigabits-per-second (Gbps) and upload speeds up to 300 megabits-per-second (Mbps). The new speeds are available through existing connections in homes and businesses throughout the region.

Over the last three years Comcast invested more than $900 million in technology innovations and fiber infrastructure in New Jersey alone. The company maintains more than 48,000 miles of fiber network infrastructure throughout the state which powers hundreds of thousands of homes and businesses and tens of thousands of WiFi hotspots.

“Through innovation and investment, we are delivering cutting-edge solutions and products powered by AI,” said Dan Bonelli, Comcast regional senior vice president. “Our customers benefit from more than just enhanced speeds – we’re offering a more secure and reliable connection than ever that also supports a truly differentiated wireless experience through Xfinity Mobile.”

Comcast is constantly upgrading and leveraging AI throughout its network as part of the company’s broader strategy to make it smarter and faster. Earlier this year, it began deploying ultra-low lag technology that, according to the company, further enhances the responsiveness of its network to deliver popular applications like streaming and gaming.

The company also launched WiFi PowerBoost, which can deliver up to gig speeds to Xfinity Mobile customers’ smartphones at home with the latest Xfinity gateways, and on the go when they connect to millions of hotspots, regardless of their home Internet speed. In fact, Ookla’s latest Speedtest Intelligence® research shows that Xfinity Mobile’s speeds have increased 150 percent, making it the fastest mobile provider in our markets.
