Schuyler Savings Awards Small Business Recovery Grants to 8 Businesses

Kearny-based Schuyler Savings Bank has announced that eight local small businesses and non-profits have been selected as recipients of the 2025 Small Business Recovery Grant (SBRG) Program offered in partnership with the Federal Home Loan Bank of New York (FHLBNY). The program aims to assist businesses during times of economic uncertainty, helping them meet financial obligations, maintain operations and provide employment for deserving community residents.

The SBRG grants provide essential resources for these organizations to continue thriving and expanding their services.”
The 2025 Schuyler Savings Bank SBRG Program recipients include:
The Observer Newspaper ($7,500) — A family-owned weekly print and online newspaper based in Kearny, NJ reporting on the communities of Kearny, Harrison, East Newark, North Arlington, Lyndhurst, Belleville, Bloomfield and Nutley, New Jersey.
Pathways to Independence ($10,000) – A non-profit organization in Kearny helping adults with disabilities become responsible and independent through pre-vocational and vocational training.
GAMS Power Tools & Supplies, Inc. ($6,250) — A proud, family-owned Kearny-based authorized retailer and service provider of the highly popular STIHL quality tool line.
Windshield Replacement Specialist LLC ($6,250) — A Kearny-based minority-owned mobile business, proud of its many years of quality onsite windshield repair and replacement, bringing its services directly to customers.
BEW Discount Store, LLC ($5,000) – A minority-owned discount dollar store based in Harrison offering useful, affordable products to members of the local community for many years.
BJA Landscaping, LLC ($5,000) — A Kearny-based woman-owned small landscaping business providing employment, essential life skills and positive change to challenged teens in the community.
Opus Ethica Corp ($5,000) – A small, minority-owned music school dedicated to enriching people young and old with affordable opportunities to develop and explore their musical talents.
Glotrac Builders ($5,000) — A small, New Jersey-based, family-owned general construction business providing quality home renovations, new construction and demolition, plus paving and masonry work.
